Glass Mould Manufacturing

Internship / Vorpraktikum

Friends Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd. · Navi Mumbai, Indien

Production Internship: February–April 2022 | Quality Inspection Internship: August 2022

My Work

I supported the manufacture and inspection of moulds used to produce glass bottles. Working under supervision, I gained practical experience in machining, surface finishing and assembly while following technical drawings and workshop safety procedures.

Manufacturing & Assembly

I practised CNC turning and drilling, learned basic Mastercam programming for VMC machining and used EDM to produce small vent holes. I also helped assemble mould components, including blanks, bottoms, neck rings and guide rings.

Quality & Reliability

Using vernier calipers and inspection checklists, I helped check dimensions, surface finish, cooling holes and component fit. Examining defective parts showed me how small manufacturing deviations can cause assembly problems and affect mould quality.

What I Learned

I learned how technical drawings guide machining, assembly and inspection, and how each stage affects the next. Working with mould components helped me understand why dimensional accuracy, surface finish and clearances between parts matter.

The practical work showed me that even tasks which look simple require preparation, patience and careful checks. Studying assembly defects helped me understand how to identify problems and consider possible solutions. A visit to a glass manufacturing plant connected this workshop experience with actual bottle production, showing me how the moulds are used and why finished bottles may be rejected.

Testing & Reliability

Under supervision, I checked dimensions, surface finish and assembly fit against technical drawings. This taught me how small deviations can affect component function and production quality.
